Anybody undergo an aging effect. Anybody wants to reverse or at least reduce the aging effect. The aging effects are signed by wrinkles, skin thinning and becoming drier, decreased elasticity of the skin, gradually increased osteoporosis risks, etc. For women, most of the aging effects are caused by lowering the levels of reproductive hormones.

When women come to premenopause, the production of progesterone and two of the three estrogen become lower and lower until it will almost completely stop producing after menopause phase. The decrease of estrogen hormone will lead to decrease of collagen polimerization and production. It also will increase the degradation of collagen. The effects are signed by wrinkles, skin thinning and becoming drier, decreased elasticity of the skin.

In order to reduce the effect of lower production of hormones and when the bodily effects of perimenopause are severe and disruptive (such as hot flashes, depression, anxiety etc) , hormones replacements therapy is one of the solutions. Unfortunately, hormones replacements therapy is very expensive and should be carried out by physicians to reduce the negative side effects.

Now it is the good news. You could substitute hormones replacements therapy by high phytoestrogens diets. Phytoestrogens are an estrogen like hormones which are produced by natural vegetables. The most abundant phytoestrogens are isoflavones.

Isoflavones such as genistein, glisitein and daidzein are found in only some plant families, because most plants do not have an enzyme, chalcone isomerase which converts a flavone precursor into an isoflavone. Isoflavones are polyphenol compounds, produced primarily by beans and other legumes, including peanuts and chickpeas. Isoflavones are found richly in soybean. Soy’s content of isoflavones is as much as 3 mg/g dry weight.

The recommended daily intake of isoflavones for premenopause women are at least 50-100 mg. Unfortunately the soy’s content of isoflavones are reduced higher if the soy are being fried. The recommended cooking process for soybean are steaming, boiling or baking.

The anti-wrinkle effects of isoflavones are clinically proofed and published by Journal of The American College of Nutrition. The other benefits of consuming soybean are :

  1. Soy proteins reduce the risk of heart disease as FDA says.
  2. Soybeans are considered to be a source of complete protein.
  3. By Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score (PDCAAS), soy protein is near to being the nutritional equivalent of meat and eggs for human growth and health.
  4. Soybean is the least expensive source of dietary protein.
